Types of cookies

Depending on the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and treats the data obtained, the following types can be distinguished: 

 

• Own cookies: are those that are sent to the user's equipment from a computer or domain managed by the editor and from which the service requested by the user is provided.  

 

•  Third-party cookies: are those that are sent to the user's computer from a computer or domain that is not managed by the editor, i.e., it is another entity that treats the data obtained through cookies.  

 

 Then, there is a second classification by virtue of the period of time they remain stored in the client's browser: 

 

• Session Cookies: they are designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page, which are usually used to store information that is only interested in retaining for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion.

• Persistent Cookies: the data are stored at the end, which can be accessed and treated by the person responsible for the cookies for a defined period of time, which can range from minutes to years.

 

Finally, there is a last classification of cookies according to their purpose in terms of the processing of the data obtained: 

 

 

• Technical cookies: are those that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform or application and the use of different options or services that exist in it.  

 

 

• Personalization Cookies: these are those that allow the user to access the service with some general characteristics which are predefined, based on criteria to be followed in the user's terminal. 

 

 

• Analysis Cookies: are those that allow the person responsible for them, their monitoring and analysis of the behavior of users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected is used in the measurement of activity and profiling of websites, applications or platforms, in order to make improvements based on the analysis obtained from the data made by users of the service.  

 

 

• Advertising Cookies: are those that allow the management of advertising spaces effectively.

 

• Behavioral advertising cookies: are those that store information on user behavior, which is obtained through continuous observation of browsing habits, allowing the development of specific profiles to display advertising based on the same.  

 

 

• Cookies from external social networks: these are used so that visitors can interact with the content of different social platforms, generated only for users of these. The conditions of use of this type of cookies and the information collected are regulated by the privacy policy of the corresponding social platform.
